Different Ways to Style a Dining Table

One of the many things I love about design is how simple it can be. From counter surfaces to corners of a room to empty wall space. Not every inch of your home needs to be covered up with some sort of décor or furniture. In fact, less is always more. Especially when it comes to your dining room table. We tend to keep our table pretty simple in its style since we use this space for sharing meals with friends and family, playing card games, and scattering papers across the top when working. Below are my go-to’s when styling dining tables or breakfast nooks. You can probably achieve one of these looks with the décor you already own or only needing to purchase a couple new pieces. These are great options to choose from if you need something for this space when it is not holiday season.

  1. Gray and black vase, one with foliage and one without

  2. Vase with bowl and faux fruit, moss balls or plums

  3. Oval tray with white vase and foliage and figurine

  4. Wicker bowl

  5. Candle sticks

  6. Placemats

Any of these looks would pair well with a clean, natural, floral patterned or striped table runner, too. I just don’t own one at this moment. Another rule of thumb I have when it comes to tables is that, whether you are eating there or not, it is best to only use non scented candles. Candles have a great way of creating atmosphere but, scented candles will take away from the food smell and interrupt the meal experience you are going for. Lastly, items like placemats and napkins, if normally left on your table, should be incorporated into the design. Place the napkins in the tray with the other décor items or stack the placemats under one of the pots/vases until you are ready to use them.
