Transitioning from Summer to Fall

As we approach the fall season, here are my go-to colors I switch over to in my home. I bring these tones and colors in by swapping out pillows, throw blankets, vases, greenery, bowls, art work, and more.

1. Rich Terracotta:

Terracotta hues, reminiscent of autumn leaves and warm earth tones, can bring a cozy and inviting feel to your home. Use this color for accent pieces like throw pillows, blankets, and vases. It can also work well for larger furniture items like accent chairs.

2. Deep Burgundy:

Burgundy is a classic fall color that exudes elegance and warmth. Incorporate it through upholstered furniture, draperies, and decorative items. A burgundy accent wall in a living room or bedroom can create a luxurious focal point.

3. Olive Green:

Olive green is a versatile color that pairs well with many other fall tones. Consider using it for upholstery, rugs, and accent walls. You can also bring in olive-green accessories like planters or tableware to enhance the color scheme.

4. Mustard Yellow:

Mustard yellow adds a pop of vibrancy to fall decor. Incorporate it through throw pillows, artwork, and small decor items. It can contrast beautifully with deep browns and greys.

5. Warm Rust:

Rust is a popular fall color that embodies the changing leaves and cozy vibes of the season. Consider using it for textiles like curtains and bedding, as well as decorative pieces like ceramics and vases.

6. Burnt Orange:

Burnt orange captures the essence of fall foliage. Use it for accent walls, decorative pillows, and accessories. It pairs well with neutral shades and can create a vibrant yet balanced look.

7. Moody Navy Blue:

Navy blue provides depth and sophistication. Incorporate it into your decor through accent furniture, rugs, and wall art. It can serve as a strong backdrop for other fall colors.

8. Earthy Brown:

Earthy brown tones evoke a sense of warmth and comfort. Use them for larger furniture pieces like sofas and armchairs, as well as in textiles and decor items.

How to Best Use Trendy Fall Colors:

  • Accent Pieces: Incorporate trendy fall colors through accent pieces like throw pillows, blankets, curtains, and table linens. These items are easily changeable and allow you to experiment with different color combinations.

  • Feature Walls: Consider painting an accent wall in a trendy fall color to add depth and drama to a room. This can be particularly effective with rich and bold shades.

  • Furniture: Use trendy fall colors for upholstery on furniture pieces like sofas, chairs, and ottomans. These larger pieces can anchor the color scheme in a room.

  • Art and Decor: Introduce trendy colors through artwork, wall decor, ceramics, and decorative accessories. These items can create visual interest and tie the color scheme together.

  • Layering and Mixing: Layer different shades of fall colors with neutrals to create a balanced and harmonious look. Mix textures and patterns to add depth to your decor.

  • Natural Elements: Incorporate fall colors through natural elements like fall flowers, branches, and leaves. These can be displayed in vases, wreaths, or as part of table centerpieces.

  • Consider Lighting: Lighting can influence how colors appear in a space. Experiment with different lighting sources to see how they interact with the fall color palette.

Remember that the key to using trendy fall colors in your home is to find a balance between the new hues and your existing decor. Incorporate these colors in a way that reflects your personal style and complements the overall ambiance of your space.
