Hosting For The Holidays
Whether you love to throw big extravagant parties or small intimate dinners, these tips are the common, and key pieces that make a gathering special. I am confident that anyone can pull off either a small get together or 30+ people event with these simple steps!!
1. Festive cocktail. Everyone loves a good tasty drink that feels like the current season. From cinnamon and orange flavors around thanksgiving to cranberry and pomegranate for Christmas/New Years. No matter the size of your group, pick a recipe you love and throw it all together in a pitcher. This way, your guests can help themselves whenever they need a fill. Side note, it is also fun to place a bowl of the same fruits that are used in the drink for you to garnish it. To me, this tops it off and gives it a completed look.
2. Table scape. If you plan on having a plated meal or a bunch of appetizers on the table, this will work for you! I’d start with a table runner or table cloth of your choice, then add a garland (faux berries, fresh foliage, etc) down the center. Next, add candle sticks of various heights and votive candle, these you can scatter around. Lastly, fill in the dead spots with fun figurines like reindeer, bells, mini faux trees, and/or Christmas like lanterns.
3. Atmosphere. I would argue that this is probably the most important part of the event. Your guests will most likely play off the tone of the party and how it’s been set from the moment they come through that front door. I like to set the tone with appropriate fitting music, a lit candle, an appetizer or snack and dim lighting or full bright lighting, depending on the event.
There you have it! Simple and totally approachable tips for hosting a gathering of any size. We hope this encourages and empowers you to throw a party this season. Cheers!
